Atwell Fire Department is located on W NC 152 Hwy halfway between China Grove and Mooresville, North Carolina. 53 members dedicate their time to protecting the property and citizens of more than 30 square miles in the southwest corner of Rowan County. Atwell Fire Department currently operates out of 1 station with 6 apparatus. We also utilize paid daytime staff Monday through Friday to better serve our community while our volunteers work their fulltime jobs.
Atwell continues to make great strides to provide our personnel with the newest and most up-to-date equipment to protect the community in the safest and most efffective way possible. Recent additions include a new 2008 Seagrave fire engine with all new equipment. This truck allows us to provide the community with fast, reliable, and effecient fire protection. Other new equipment includes new MSA airpacks and a program called "packtracker" which allows us to monitor personnel and their air supply on the firegrounds from a laptop computer in the fire truck. These additions are major steps in firefighter safety.
